Our 610gsm 18oz and 680gsm 20oz 1000D 14×14 constructions were specially developed for the Mexican market after years of repeat production and field feedback. The design focuses on universal converting performance plus stronger resistance to pulling, tearing and coating separation.
Compared with the company's conventional benchmark product, the customized construction delivers approximately 20-30% higher tensile strength, approximately 100% higher tear strength and approximately 25% higher coating adhesion. These percentages are internal comparative results; the published technical table should always show the actual measured values and identify the relevant test method.
Performance Area | Mexico-Customized Improvement | Practical Buyer Value |
Tensile strength | Approximately +20-30% | Better resistance to pulling loads, tensioning and repeated installation |
Tear strength | Approximately +100% | Greater resistance around edges, fasteners, corners and accidental cuts |
Coating adhesion | Approximately +25% | Improved resistance to coating separation during welding, folding and outdoor use |
This strength package is the core reason the material has achieved long-term repeat business in Mexico. It gives fabricators one mature roll material that can serve tent, truck-transport and general-cover product lines instead of requiring a different fabric for every application.
A long-term Mexican-market program required a heavy-duty PVC tarpaulin roll that could support several downstream products, maintain stable strength and run reliably through local welding and fabrication operations. The program reached more than 300 containers shipped in a single year, demonstrating mature production capacity, repeatability and sustained market acceptance.

The buyer needed a material strong enough for demanding transport and outdoor-cover use, yet flexible and universal enough for tent and general fabrication. Standard market grades did not provide the desired combination of tear resistance, coating adhesion and repeat-order stability.
We standardized the program around a 1.55m × 50m roll and a 1000D 14×14 reinforced polyester base. The 610gsm version became the universal high-strength grade. The 680gsm version added a complete-blockout structure for opaque tent and cover applications. Blue and white were organized as the main repeat colors, supported by controlled raw materials, physical testing and export packing.
The program moved from specification development to stable high-volume repeat supply. More than 300 containers shipped in one year, while the same material platform continued serving multiple end-use categories. The case demonstrates not only production volume, but also the value of a proven specification that has passed years of market use.
The 680gsm 20oz blockout grade is designed to prevent light from passing through the material. A light-blocking layer is integrated into the laminated construction so the finished roll remains opaque even when the front and back colors are light. This makes it different from an ordinary white or colored PVC tarp that may still transmit light under strong illumination.
Creates a darker and more controlled interior for tents and temporary structures
Prevents shadows, stored goods or internal activity from being visible through the cover
Improves privacy for partitions, enclosures and site screens
Reduces visible light spots where normal coating may appear thin
Supports premium opaque covers and two-side color programs
Helps maintain a more uniform exterior appearance under strong sunlight
Commercial tents, event structures, tent sidewalls, warehouse partitions, privacy screens, truck covers, machinery covers, agricultural covers, outdoor storage covers and other products where opacity is a functional requirement.

Step | Process Control |
1. Polyester base preparation | Confirm yarn denier, weave density, base weight and fabric surface |
2. PVC formulation | Match color, flexibility, UV, anti-mold, flame-retardant and temperature requirements |
3. Coating or lamination | Control coating pickup, layer bonding and blockout construction where required |
4. Surface finishing | Apply gloss/matte or lacquer direction according to the approved sample |
5. Physical testing | Measure weight, thickness, tensile, tear, adhesion and required flame behavior |
6. Slitting and winding | Control usable width, roll length, edge alignment, tension and telescoping |
7. Packing and traceability | Protect roll faces and edges; apply specification, batch and shipping labels |
Tensile testing indicates how the reinforced fabric resists pulling load in warp and weft directions. It is important for tensioned tents, tied-down truck covers and large fabricated sheets. Report the actual result in N/5cm together with the test method.
Tear strength measures resistance to the growth of a cut or local damage. It is especially relevant around eyelets, D-rings, hems, corners and high-wear areas. The Mexico-customized 14×14 construction was strengthened specifically in this area.
Adhesion measures the bond between the PVC layer and the polyester base. Stable adhesion helps reduce delamination during welding, folding, repeated handling and outdoor exposure. The ordered surface treatment and test method must be consistent with the approved sample.
For the 680gsm blockout grade, inspect the roll against a strong backlight and record any pinholes, thin spots or light leakage according to an agreed acceptance standard. 'Complete blockout' should be controlled as a functional requirement, not only a color description.
Inspection should cover finished weight, thickness, usable width, roll length, color difference, surface marks, coating uniformity, edge quality, winding, telescoping, core condition, labels and packing. Defect categories and acceptance limits should be agreed before mass production.

610gsm 18oz material provides a practical balance of strength, weldability and handling for tent roofs, sidewalls, market canopies, storage shelters and temporary structures. The 680gsm 20oz blockout option is recommended when the buyer needs complete opacity, stronger light control or a heavier premium construction. Public-event projects may require a current flame-retardant report such as NFPA 701; confirm the exact standard before production.
The high tensile and tear values support flatbed truck covers, trailer tarps, cargo covers, pickup covers and general transportation protection. Buyers should specify fastening design, abrasion points, low-temperature exposure and whether the tarp will be continuously exposed to highway wind loads. Finished-tarp performance also depends on reinforcement, welding, hems, hardware and correct installation.
The material can be fabricated into machinery covers, pallet covers, warehouse curtains, welding-area partitions, construction-material covers and outdoor storage protection. The waterproof surface is easy to clean, while the reinforced base helps the finished cover withstand repeated handling.
Typical products include grain and feed covers, farm-equipment covers, hay and material covers, temporary rain protection and custom outdoor covers. UV treatment, color, expected service life and contact with chemicals or sharp edges should be confirmed for each program.
Selected grades can be used for awnings, side curtains, partitions, bags, mats and other welded or sewn products. Processing trials are recommended because welding temperature, speed and pressure vary with equipment, coating thickness and surface treatment.
