A Saudi company specialising in special equipment transport and rental operates 40ft special containers used to carry oversized and irregularly shaped machinery. These containers feature side openings and top openings. The client modified the standard container height and length for their own branding and operational needs, resulting in irregular structures (e.g., protrusions on the top) while retaining the four corner posts. Each project requires between 30 and 68 containers, and all containers must be covered with PVC tarpaulins during transport and storage.

1. Water ingress at the four corners – Because the container height and length were altered and protrusions exist, standard container covers do not fit. The four corners are especially prone to leaking.
2. Sagging over the long side opening – The side opening exceeds 6 metres in length. The client required that the cover should not sag noticeably, as sagging would affect appearance and protection.
3. Branding requirement – The client wanted their logo printed on the covers, turning the container fleet into mobile billboards.
4. Long‑term reliability – The projects run over long periods, so the covers must be durable and reusable.

From initial contact to final design approval, the process took approximately 1 year. We worked closely with the client, conducted on‑site measurements of the irregular containers, revised drawings multiple times, and carried out several rounds of sampling and testing. Drawing on our successful experience with a major US shipping client, we developed a tailored solution:
1. Removable rain caps for the four corners
To solve the corner sealing problem, we designed removable rain caps that attach to the main cover using Velcro (hook-and-loop) , making installation and removal very simple. We also enlarged the top fabric area of each rain cap to ensure that rainwater cannot penetrate through the seams. This design completely eliminates corner leakage and saves significant time during on‑site installation.

2. Reinforced ribs over the long side opening
The side opening is more than 6 metres long. Ordinary covers tend to sag under their own weight. We added reinforced ribs (horizontal or longitudinal stiffening straps) at the corresponding positions, keeping the cover flat and taut. This satisfies both waterproofing and aesthetic requirements, and the client was extremely satisfied with the result.
3. Custom fit for irregular shapes + logo printing
Based on the client‘s modified container height, length, and the position of top protrusions, we custom‑cut and welded the PVC fabric to ensure a snug fit around every irregular feature. At the same time, we printed the client’s logo in a prominent position on each cover, turning their container fleet into moving advertisements.

4. Simplified tooling (drawing on proven concepts)
Borrowing from the tooling experience of our US client, we provided a set of simple installation aids for this Saudi client. These allow workers to quickly secure the covers and rain caps without complex work at height, improving on‑site efficiency and safety.
- Total orders placed: Over 1,000 special container covers.
- Project scale: Each project uses 30–68 containers, and the client now executes approximately 10 projects per year on a stable basis.
- Client feedback: After one year of intensive communication and testing, all pain points were resolved. The client was very satisfied with the test results and has adopted this solution as the standard specification for their special container fleet.
- Cooperation status: A long‑term, stable relationship has been established, with continuous repeat orders.
> “Our biggest concerns were water leakage at the four corners and sagging over such a long side opening. Not only did you solve both problems, but you also made our logo visible on every container. From testing to mass production, we have seen true professionalism.”
